Octagonal barrels slightly flared at the muzzle, filleted with gold thread presenting the signature “Boutet Directeur Artiste Manufact a Versailles”, gilt breeches decorated with pointillé and foliate motifs and bearing the initials “NB”; locks with lowered tangs signed “Boutet Directeur Artiste” and “Manuf.re Versailles”; silver mounts stamped on the inside of the trigger guard and decorated with dolphins, cornucopia, anchors and trophies-of-arms, calottes chased with anchors, ship prows and garlands, walnut stocks are entirely covered in filigree, tridents, trophies-of-arms and anchors. The weapons were used by the admirals of the imperial navy who had been honoured by the emperor. Rare and in excellent condition.
