A pair of duelling pistols, Gran Bretagna, 1800 ca. - Great Britain, circa 1800

Damascus steeloctagonal barrels in 12mm calibre, with brown finish, breeches stamped in platinum bearing the  inscriptions "Joseph Manton Patent" platinum vent pan and filleting, locks fitted with back safety locks and anti-friction wheels, engraved with frames and swirls and signed “Joseph Manton London”, blued steel mounts engraved with trophies-of-arms, palmettes, pineapple and foliage, chequered walnut stocks terminate in bone tips; in excellent condition, They are conserved in their original oak case, with brass handle and reinforced corners, complete with lock and key (Dim. 43,5x24 cm), with green fabric lining and producer’s label, it contains the following accessories; bullet mould, cleaning ramrod and powder flask. Overall in very good condition, minor signs of use. The pistol barrels present differences in the Damascus steel motif. The trigger guards both present an oval with the same gunsmith’s number.
