A superb percussion target carbine, USA, 1840 ca. - USA, circa 1840

Solid octagonal blued barrel in 9,5mm calibre marked "WESSON HARTFORD CT CAST STEEL" set between eagles at thebreech, case-hardened breech engraved with foliage, tunnel and peep sight, lock engraved with scrollwork, nickel silver mounts that are further decorated, butt embellished with gate that can be opened housing the primer case, set trigger mechanism, walnut stock. The weapon is preserved in its original walnut case (Dim. cm. 71x22) lined in green fabric that contains the following accessories powder flask, two foldable turn screws with nipple wrench and key,container to house small accessories, loading accessories, mallet, replacement peep sight, tightening screw, a two-piece loading accessory, spare cock. A rare weapon in excellent condition.
