"The watercolor reproduced here, Scenes of life with buttero, horses and military camp</i > is, in my opinion, the work of Giovanni Fattori.

The scenario is complex in its figuration: on the left, the buttero with horses; in the center the taming of colts, on the right a camp with soldiers.< /p>

These are typically Fattori scenes, here almost assembled as in a summa of themes dear to the Artist. The background is deliberately blurred to focus attention on the foreground resolved in Fattori's manner, among shrubs and bushes that delimit the scene.

The colors are played between browns and earths, in contrast with the whiteness of the military tents, as typical of Fattori's palette.

The work is place at the end of the pictorial parable of the Master from Livorno, in the years between 1900 and 1905."
