"The first still lifes of objects date back to 1919; with the observation from life, Rosai reflects calmly on the choice of colors, giving composed solutions to the material. He poses a ceramic, a small amphora, a fruit, a small vase with a box and a lamp behind it; it is not easy to imagine an artist with a stormy temperament like him arranging such objects on a plane and then creating a painting in which tones and lights, proportions and spaces are given value with exquisitely contemplative functions. As if to suggest that the painter follows every trend of emotions and also needs to stop on collected and serenely everyday images."
