German helmet Mod. 1940

by family tradition recovered many years ago along the Gothic Line: the hull shows on the outside a good percentage of a field camouflage with wrinkled paint, probably containing earth or sand, of a greenish color sprinkled with ocher; without cap and wedge, it maintains the original rim and rivets; from the conditions, in particular of the interior which shows results from corrosion and conglomerations of limestone from water pouring, the helmet seems to have remained for a long time placed upside down in a place exposed to bad weather or very humid; however solid and very pleasant in appearance; interesting testimony of the war on the Apennine front
