Italian hyposcope from World War I

individual hyposcope, it allowed its use both as normal binoculars with a wide field of observation and as a periscope for safe use in the shelter of the trench: the instrument is a copy of the Germanic "Teleplast" 10X, initially produced around 1914 under license from Zeiss by San Giorgio Genoa in about 1300 specimens and at the outbreak of the war manufactured in small numbers as well, like the example illustrated, by Galileo Firenze; in black lacquered brass, with hammered leather upholstery and Bakelite eyepieces, stamped with indication of the model and manufacturer, equipped with a revolving handle in ebony wood; complete with its original black leather case; in good condition, with signs of use and normal patina due to age; extremely rare
