Two Italian letter openers from the Great War
typical examples of the so-called "Art of the Trench": one with a brass blade, engraved on the burin with simple scrolls and the legend "Piave 1918", the handle obtained from a French 8x50 Lebel bullet, probably the work of a machine gunner from the St .Etienne; another in copper, obtained from forcing crowns of artillery shells, the blade engraved with the burin "Gorizia 20 August 916"; in good condition with fair patina
