probably of central Italian origin, dated c.1776; two-course barrel with rings engraved on the exchanger and four brands of lilies and a rampant lion inlaid in gold on the chamber, beautiful Florentine stock soberly engraved with scrollwork, walnut stock with brass mounts, buttplate bearing engraved initials and date "M.A.C. 1776", wand absent; overall in very good condition
