The group consists of A) a pair of cup hilt swords marked at the forte “Galand Armurier a Paris”; the external face of the cup hilt bears the monogram “AS” crowned, metal wire wrap grip. B) a pair of percussion Galand system pistols; octagonal blued barrels in 7mm calibre, superbly decorated with gold floral inlay and wording “Galand - Paris”, the blued hardened steel tangs present cartouches finely decorated with the monogram “AS” surmounted by the royal crown, blued steel mounts decorated en suite, ebony stocks are beautifully carved with swirl motifs and scrollwork, trigger guards are further decorated and gilded. As can be seen from the decoration and monograms, these firearms were donated to Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta and King of Spain, from 1870 to 1873. Exceptional overall and in excellent condition. This lot is listed with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.
