Superba coppia di pistole da duello / A SUPERB PAIR OF DUELLING PISTOLS, Germania, 1840 ca.
Rifled barrels in 9mm calibre, finely filleted, blued, signed and decorated in gold “JDMORITZ - SOHN LEIPZIG”, breeches are finely carved and fitted with sights adjustable with a key and numbered in gold “1” and “2” with monogram “WAG”; locks and counter-plates are chased with dragons and trophies-of-arms signed in italics on reverse “Mame”; grey steel mounts are chiselled with heroic style figures and floral motifs; walnut stocks are magisterially chiseled with vine sprays. The weapons are conserved in the original walnut burr case (Dim. Cm. 50,5x34) edged with ebony and filleted about the edges, white metal locks and handles, the upper part of the case presents a plaque with the inscription “W. KLEFF”, mustard coloured velvet lining and contains the following accessories: cleaning ramrods, bullet mould, oiler, socket punch, measurer, powder flask, two primer cases, adjustment key for sight lines. Overall rare and of excellent quality and condition, complete in all its parts.
