Rare concealed from siege

probably of northern Italian area, datable to the 16th century; of very heavy structure, the tile appears to be made in two halves welded by boiling and riveted along the profile of the ridge; present along the edge, flaring at the rear to form a hint of a neck guard, almost all the original farcade rivets, in brass with internal iron cotter pins that still retain minute traces of now wooded leather; furthermore, on the sides of the headdress there are a couple of symmetrical holes, still holding the ancient iron rivets, perhaps destined to secure lost pillows or a reinforced wimple; the helmet appears on the inside in an ancient and thick dark patina never "revealed", on the outside carefully cleaned.
